November 2025.
Solo exhibition by Kyril Buhowski, curated by Georgi P. Pavlov.
DOZA Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria.
“Balkan stories” is an exhibition of paintings and an installation that explore the themes of identity of young people torn between Western and Eastern European cultures, queer existence in different contexts, the tension between high and low cultures, and the universal human need for intimacy. Using classical techniques and found objects to express contemporary motives, the works pose questions about the role of art in the dialogue between pop, underground and high culture, creating a dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary, the local and the global.
